Q&A with Dr. Lund
What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?
I am passionate about enabling patients to do what they love pain free, whether that involves sports, work, or other various daily activities. I enjoy meeting the individual wherever they are in their personal health journey and giving them both the care and resources they need to allow them to meet their own personal goals.
What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it?
I would still give back to the community by providing care to the underserved communities needing healthcare but do not have ability or access to the care they deserve. I have given back to the underserved by donating my time to the Salvation Army providing free chiropractic care to the homeless for a year.
What are you surprisingly good at?
I excel in the use of Myofascial Release (MFR) therapy, a hands-on technique that releases tension in fascial tissues, alleviates muscle pain, enhances range of motion, and restores neuromuscular facilitation. I incorporate my expertise in MFR alongside functional movement screens and motion palpation techniques to address muscle imbalances from a biomechanical perspective and improve posture.
What’s the biggest proof that you’re good at what you do?
As a chiropractor who has worked with athletes in a variety of sports, from powerlifting to dance and gymnastics, I have honed my skills to find untapped power, explosiveness, balance, and spatial awareness for my patients. The sense of accomplishment or proof comes when athletes illustrate improved function, personal bests, or win the trophies/medals they set out for.
How does your education connect to your professional career? What about personal experiences?
Prior to my undergraduate education, I became the youngest EMT in Moorhead at 18 to see if the healthcare field was the correct choice for me. I then graduated from St. John’s University with a major in biology and a minor in exercise sciences, followed by earning my doctorate in chiropractic from Northwestern College of Chiropractic.
I have a deep passion for rehabilitating and preventing acute sports injuries, stemming from immersing myself in rehab after refracturing my ankle by returning to sports too quickly post-therapy.
What problems do you consistently solve for your patients?
Common issues experienced in the clinic include discomfort in the neck and back, frequent headaches, sciatica, chronic disc-related pain, muscle aches and weakness, among other concerns.
What are you complimented on most in your work?
I am often complemented on my thoroughness with the patient and my ability to navigate individual muscle groups to maximize improvement.
Who is your ideal patient and why should they connect with you?
My ideal patient is any athlete working to improve performance or recover from injury. My personal experience as an athlete recovering from an injury has shown me the power of chiropractic care, leading me to embrace holistic healing.
My other ideal patients are those suffering from acute/chronic headaches or neck/back pain seeking a natural, non-invasive approach. It’s not just about adding years to your life but adding life to your years.
